Welcome to the HDOC web site !
Keeping Up with HDOC
This has been a
month full of dog activity. Our February barbecue meeting was held for the
second time out at Castaic Lake, and although the weather was not the best,
we ended up with 22 dogs, all sizes, breeds, dispositions – and not a cross
word among them. The people – well, none of them is perfect….but they too
seemed to have a good time.
Then the
last day of February/first day of March saw our annual tracking test out in
Riverside. Here the weather was excellent – in fact, a little too good for
the best tracking conditions (pouring rain is better for the dogs). We had
great help, both from inside our club and outside, so everything went very
smoothly, mainly thanks to our wonderful trial secretary, Daphne Bell,
without whom this event would never make it. Not our fault that none of the
six TD dog teams qualified. However the last TDX dog passed with flying
colors, setting the seal on a great show – especially poignant since it was
a beagle, the breed of Betty Mae Regan, to whose memory the trial was
dedicated.
Elsewhere in this issue you will see details of a really exciting meeting
proposed for March. Be sure to check the date and let us know if you plan
to attend.
Our
good wishes go out at this time to Bill Marquardt, who is undergoing back
surgery in the next few days. We hope to see him back playing with the
puppies, and throwing the Frisbee for Ike before too long.
I am
writing this message on Daylight Saving Sunday. No excuses now for not
taking our dogs out in the evening for a pleasant stroll…
