Obedience, Rally, Tracking Trials - HDOC holds its annual AKC Obedience and Rally trials in early May. This is a great opportunity to show your dog, meet club members, and help out. Early in the year HDOC also holds an AKC Tracking Trial.

Meetings and Field Trips - HDOC meetings may be held at different venues so club members may enjoy outings with our friends and dogs. Meetings have included visits to the beach, parks, restaurants, and hikes, lectures and demonstrations by trainers, police dogs, chiropractors, etc. If you have a suggestion for a meeting, please let us know.

Therapy Dogs - Please change wording to “Many HDOC members and their dogs have passed tests qualifying them to work as Therapy Dog and handler teams. HDOC Therapy Dog and handler teams visit
nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities, and may be available to visit additional facilities on request.”

The Canine Post is HDOC’s monthly newsletter which provides club members with information regarding club meetings and activities, and contains articles relative to canine health, legislation, training, and other areas of interest. A sample copy, may be requested by e-mailing HDOC.

Membership – Membership in HDOC is not required to participate in HDOC training classes. In addition to enjoying club meetings and events, HDOC members are expected to work at the trials or on committees for other activities. Prospective members are required to attend at least two HDOC meetings and their membership application must be sponsored by two club members and approved by the Board of Directors.

Top Dog - HDOC members and their dogs are eligible to try out for the HDOC Top Dog
Team that competes in the annual inter-club obedience competition sponsored by the Southern
California Dog Obedience Council.

Ask for the current annual membership dues.  A prospective member must attend at least one meeting before joining.  Ask any board member for an application.  Members receive a discount when paying for training classes.
